This course is designed for the beginner who wants to learn the basics of a computer using Windows as their operating system. We will cover the components of the computer: hardware and software and how they work, handling the mouse, keyboard and function keys, become familiar with the desktop, typing and saving a document, how to do a search and printing the information. Helpers and handouts will be available.
SEARCH ENGINES: WHAT ARE THEY?
A search engine is really a general class of programs however; the term is often used to specifically describe systems like Google, Bing, Yahoo that enables users to search for documents on the World Wide Web. If you would like to learn which one might be the best for you to use, what to avoid, etc. register for this class. Bring your own laptop or iPad.
iPHONES & ANDROID PHONES
If you need a little more information for using your iPhone or Android Smartphone these 2 hour sessions will helpful. Space is limited, register early! Instructor is Peter Harris.
INTRODUCTION TO YOUR iPAD
If you need some assistance to learn how to connect to the Internet, find and install a variety of “Apps” this class is for you. You must own an iPad to register. Bring it fully charged each day. It is expected that participants registering will have different skills and knowledge therefore you are encouraged to bring a list of things you would like to learn.
Basic and simple instructions on how to use Mac Computers, MacBook and iMac will be given. The instructor will start with Mac basics and then will gradually work up to general information, followed by answering participant’s questions. Some of the topics will be using iTunes, safe web browsing with Safari, setting up Skype. Bring your Mac to the class. You are welcome to take notes if your Mac isn’t portable.
